This is a legally protected building of historic significance

This location is listed Grade 2 by English Heritage

 

This impressive limestone milestone stood at the junction of Ermine Street and the Great North Road before the dualling of the A1 in 1982. It now stands between the AI(M) and the B1043, and it is accessible from the latter.
